AB Urfabriken (ABU) was founded in 1921 by Carl August Borgström in Svängsta, Sweden, and began producing precision instruments. During World War II, Borgström shifted the focus to fishing reels and gained worldwide recognition. Abu Garcia was later awarded as the "Court Supplier of the Swedish Royal House" for its quality and craftsmanship.
Strong, lightweight Abu Garcia design – The body and rotor of the spinning reel are made of a strong graphite material that is very durable. It features a double anodized aluminum spool and a strong, foldable die-cast handle with a soft rubber grip knob.
Very smooth rotation – 3+1 high-quality stainless steel ball bearings allow the roller to rotate with very low resistance. The classic black and red colour combination gives it a luxurious and expensive look.
High performance fighting drag – features a high-quality felt disc front brake system that gives the reel a reliable and very constant fighting drag performance. This is crucial in fighting the fish of life! It also has good braking power/maximum resistance (4 kg / 8 lb for sizes 1000-3000 and 5.5 kg / 12 lb for sizes 4000 and 5000).
MULTIPURPOSE – These fishing reels are affordable workhorses suitable for all kinds of techniques, fish species and applications. They are available in sizes 1000 to 5000 with a gear ratio of 5.2:1.
Precise distance casts – The Cardinal reels feature a large diameter aluminium spool that is easy to cast. In combination with the gear ratio, the rollers have a relatively high line output per handle rotation of 72 cm at the smallest size and a stunning 92 cm for the 5000!
